Who Are You? Who Who
Thursday, November 30, 2006, 02:47 PM
Tim and I went to LA to see the Who at the Hollywood Bowl. Need I say more? Great seats, great weather and real rock music.

The latest album (the first since 1982) is worth a listen. Some incredible stuff.

Sonny, Please
Tuesday, November 28, 2006, 08:53 AM - Music
We saw Sonny Rollins in November at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts. What a show! It was a nice way to end a great weekend.

His new album is hot, it was recorded on his own label, Doxy Records, coming off a tour in Japan. He is a true cat. Check out Sonny, Please... please.

Don't take my word for it... go to http://www.sonnyrollins.com/lgb/
note the posting from the Dixie Chicks' pedal steel guitar player, Pete Finney: "I'm sitting in a hotel in Scottsdale a few blocks from where you'll be playing tomorrow and I'm heartbroken to have to miss it; I'll be across town playing in a basketball arena with "The Dixie Chicks", my current employers..."

Lovely Treat

What a treat to get this image on my cell phone while I was a few thousand miles away. It is a metal sculpture on the grounds of Scottsdale Center for the Arts.

Thanks, Valerie.

Greg Does Halloween in Phoenix
Thursday, November 2, 2006, 06:24 PM
What a treat to have Greg visit us for a week during his favorite holiday. He put his usual expert touch on a costume that exhibited great detail and authenticity.

Meanwhile Valerie and Tom were sporting some intersting duds. Val's basic black under a sweet Halloween top was an elegant contrast to Tom's basic hipster dude looking for a jam.

Meanwhile, at the party, Tom exchanges in intellectual conversation with Greg.

Queen City of the South
Sunday, October 22, 2006, 02:24 PM - General
Charlotte, North Carolina is a lovely place. I've been here before briefly when Dave Sonius and I played four rounds of golf (two each day) in each of South and North Carolina on consecutive days. I am at a League for Innovation in Higher Education conference and am enjoying my stay.

Besides being an interesting and friendly town, there is some real southern cooking. Had breakfast at Mort's Heart and Soul this morning consisting of two pork chops, eggs, grits, and a biscuit. It's what they call 'low country' cooking.

... later that day

Mort's was so good I went back for dinner (skipped lunch) and had the blackened salmon.
